Alma Duo has been clinically validated to provide long-lasting results and bring spontaneity back to men’s and women’s lives using a painless low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (LI-ESWT).

This patented technology results in a cascade of healing responses to stimulate increased blood flow and the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), restoring function for improved intimate satisfaction.

Alma Duo works to break up plaque in blood vessels and stimulates the release of nitric oxide, which helps improve vascular function. Our medical provider delivers low-intensity shock waves via a silicone-capped handpiece that focuses the waves on the area to be treated. Alma Duo is designed to treat mild to moderate erectile dysfunction, often as an alternative to medication. By applying multiple low-intensity shockwaves to the penis, new and healthy blood vessels develop (known as neo-vascularization), improving blood flow and performance.

What to expect

You will first have to visit with one of our providers to determine if you are a candidate for Duo therapy.

We typically prescribe six treatment sessions, administered twice a week over three consecutive weeks, with a follow-up three weeks after treatment concludes. Each treatment takes approximately 15 minutes.A clear gel will be applied to the penis. The treatment probe is placed against the skin, sending low-intensity shockwaves into the treatment area. There should be no pain at all during the procedure. In fact, most patients do not feel anything at all. Some report that they feel only a slight tingling or light tapping. There are no numbing creams, needles or pills.

Following treatments, there is no downtime. You may resume all regular activities right away.

Clinical research

A cohort of women who experience pain associated with sexual intercourse (a condition called provoked vestibulodynia, or PVD) underwent low-intensity shock wave therapy to evaluate the feasibility, safety and efficacy of this treatment for their PVD. In the trial involving 32 women, pain scores decreased from 8/10 before treatment to 4.4/10 after 3 months of treatment, while the total Female Sexual Function Index scores (measuring desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and pain) improved by 22.5 points (with 36 being the highest possible score).
