Dr. Zlatev is a Stanford and Harvard trained, board-certified urologic surgeon and surgical oncologist. His clinical practice is focused on the surgical treatment of urologic cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, penile and testicular cancers. Dr. Zlatev tailors each treatment plan to the unique needs of his patients, specializing in a range of advanced surgical techniques, including robotic, laparoscopic, open and endoscopic surgery. Recognizing the profound impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a patient and their family, his approach to patient care emphasizes compassion, direct and clear communication and multidisciplinary care.

After receiving his medical degree from Northwestern University, Dr. Zlatev completed his urologic residency at Stanford. He then completed a two-year fellowship in urologic oncology at Harvard, training at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. During his fellowship, he was awarded the ‘Best Clinical Research’ award at the annual Harvard Research Conference. After fellowship training, he stayed on as a faculty member in urologic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He moved to the Reno/Tahoe area in 2023 to join Urology Nevada, where he cares for both urologic cancer and general urology patients. Within six months of practice in Reno, Dr. Zlatev was recognized as Northern Nevada’s Physician of the Quarter in April 2024.
