Urology Nevada physicians are board certified by the American Board of Urology, the standards-setting body that oversees practitioners in the United States. Each urology doctor, as well as our team of advanced practitioners, is committed to evolving urologic care in our region to a world-class level. Meet Our Physicians
ROSS ANDERSON, MD
As a urology specialist, Dr. Ross Anderson treats a variety of conditions, with special interests and training in minimally-invasive surgery, genitourinary reconstruction and prosthetics. His approach to patient care is rooted in compassion and open communication, recognizing the often personal and intimate nature of urologic issues.
In addition to his clinical practice at Urology Nevada, Dr. Anderson has been actively involved with International Volunteers in Urology (IVUmed) since 2017. With the philosophy of “Teach one, reach many,” IVUmed provides learning opportunities for urologists in underserved regions to improve global urologic care. Dr. Anderson travels with IVUmed, treating patients and educating urologists around the world about complex urologic diseases that impact quality of life for patients in these areas.

MELISSA DAWSON, DO, MS, FACOG
Dr. Melissa Dawson became interested in women’s health watching her mother care for women after childbirth. Training as an OBGYN, she saw a pattern of medical issues she wanted to address through her work and has devoted her career to treating unmanaged, ignored and misunderstood conditions to help restore women’s quality of life.
Women’s health is multi-faceted and Dr. Dawson’s training reflects this complexity, spanning obstetrics and gynecology, urogynecology, reconstructive pelvic surgery, nutrition and menopause. As one of an elite group of physicians in the country providing comprehensive urogynecological care, Dr. Dawson has gained deep expertise, skill and experience in treating these complex female conditions.
Dr. Dawson is passionate about providing comprehensive care to her patients, treating their medical concerns in the context of their overall health and well-being. She recognizes the unique needs and expectations of each patient and develops individualized treatment plans to achieve their desired outcomes.
In 2024, Dr. Dawson, her husband and their two young children moved to the Reno/Tahoe area. She is looking forward to raising her children in a friendly, outdoor-oriented community and is passionate about building a medical practice that provides excellent care to a group that has long been underserved.

JOHN A. FREEMAN, MD
Dr. Freeman is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and completed medical school in his home state at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a urology residency training program at the University of Southern California and was subsequently accepted into a two-year Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the Kenneth Norris Cancer Center at the University of Southern California. Following his fellowship training Dr. Freeman was the Director of the Clinical Aspects of the Urologic Oncology program at the University of North Carolina before relocating as a urologist in Reno, NV in 1999.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the Society of Urologic Oncology. While he cares for a broad spectrum of urologic conditions, his practice primarily focuses on the care of patients with prostate enlargement and urologic cancers. He has been performing robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery on patients with cancer for nearly two decades.
Dr. Freeman is married to his medical school classmate and has four children, one of whom (Abby) works as a Physician Assistant at Urology Nevada. He enjoys golfing, skiing and spending time outdoors in the Sierras.
ROLAND R. GOODE, MD
Dr. Goode earned his BS from Brigham Young University in 2004. He completed his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2008 and his urology residency training at the University at Buffalo in 2013.
As a urology specialist at Urology Nevada, he focuses his practice on treatment of kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, enlarged prostate, overactive bladder, incontinence and pediatric urology.
Dr. Goode is originally from Virginia, but grew up in a military family, moving frequently throughout the U.S. and abroad. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Switzerland and France and enjoys speaking French when the opportunity arises. He is married with five children and enjoys music, traveling with his family and playing volleyball, tennis and pickleball.
DAVID E. HALD, MD
Dr. Hald earned his BA and BS degrees from California State University, Fullerton. He completed his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine in 1990. After two years of general surgery residency at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine, he transferred and completed his urological surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine. He also completed advanced training in Male Infertility and Sexual Dysfunction at the University of California, Los Angeles, where his training included advanced microsurgical techniques as well as the surgical management of Peyronie’s disease.
Board certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Hald has held numerous leadership positions in the field and has served on various Boards and Commissions in the local and state medical community. He is a former President of the Nevada State Medical Association and the Washoe County Medical Society. His urological interests include all aspects of adult and pediatric Urology.
Dr. Hald is married with three children. In his free time, he enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, mountain biking and hiking in the Sierra Nevada canyons and Reno foothills.
ANGELO W. KANELLOS, MD
Dr. Angelo Kanellos was raised locally, graduating from Reno High School and the University of Nevada, Reno. He completed medical school and his urology residency training at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. After completing ten years of training, he returned to Reno to practice urology. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the Society of Robotic Surgeons.
While practicing most aspects of urology, he has developed a particular interest in caring for prostate cancer patients and has expertise with prostate cancer diagnosis, medical management and surgery. Dr. Kanellos is a pioneer in the use of the da Vinci Robotic System for radical prostatectomies and has performed more than 1,000 of these procedures. For management of advanced disease, he is co-director with Dr. Freeman of Urology Nevada’s Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic.
Dr. Kanellos is married with two children and has enjoyed living and practicing in his hometown, where he gets to explore the Sierra Nevadas on bike and skis.
REMY W. LAMBERTS, MD
Dr. Remy W. Lamberts was raised in Northern Nevada, where he attended Reno High School and enjoyed playing varsity soccer, mountain biking, skiing and windsurfing. His parents, Dr. Eric Lamberts and Dr. Karen McDermott, are both primary care physicians in the area and instilled the importance of kindness, compassion and integrity in medicine.
After obtaining his BS, majoring in Physics with a minor in Mathematics, Dr. Lamberts spent a year and a half in France in one of the premier diabetes labs performing research on islet cell transplantation. Moving back to Reno, he attended University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine where he was awarded “Best Student in Surgery” in his class and was additionally elected to the Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his six-year residency in Urology at Stanford Hospitals and Clinics where he participated in research on health policy, MRI fusion biopsy and kidney stone disease.
During his residency, he won the WSAUA health policy essay contest and published six peer reviewed journal articles. His training covered the breadth of general urology, with an emphasis on cutting-edge ureteroscopic technology, minimally-invasive therapies for enlarged prostates and da Vinci Robotic procedures for kidney, bladder and prostate cancer.
Dr. Lamberts is excited to practice in Reno, serving his community and enjoying the recreational and outdoor opportunities the area has to offer. He is recently engaged and looks forward to raising a family in his hometown.
ANDREW MAZZONE, MD
Dr. Mazzone earned his BS from UC Berkeley where he graduated from the College of Chemistry. He went on to study medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago, followed by his urology residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He then completed a fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand within oncology and reconstructive urology. In medical school, he earned recognition as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, and was awarded the gold humanism award by his colleagues for his approach to patient-centered care. With family ties throughout the intermountain west and a love of the outdoors, he is excited to live and practice medicine in Reno. With a wide breadth of training from da Vinci robotics to endoscopic and open surgery, Dr. Mazzone’s clinical interests include minimally invasive treatment of urinary tract cancers, kidney stones, men’s health, and general urology. In his free time, Dr. Mazzone enjoys trail running, playing music, and cooking for his family and friends.
MATTHEW C. MCCORMACK, MD
Dr. McCormack earned a BA in History from Princeton University and his medical degree at Stanford University in 2001. Following, he completed his urologic residency at Stanford, where his training included laparoscopic renal surgery, robot-assisted laparoscopic techniques using the da Vinci Surgical System and other minimally-invasive techniques in the treatment of urologic disease.
Dr. McCormack is board certified by the American Board of Urology. As a urology specialist at Urology Nevada, his clinical interests include men’s health, kidney stone disease, hormone replacement therapy and voiding dysfunction. He incorporates state-of-the-art treatment techniques, including Aquablation therapy and Green Light photovaporization for prostate and botox for bladder.
Dr. McCormack moved to Reno in 2007 with his wife and two children. Outside the clinic, he enjoys swimming, hiking, stargazing, and reading history.
TIMOTHY SUTTLE, MD
Dr. Suttle completed medical school at the University of Oklahoma after completing his undergraduate studies at Humboldt State University. He completed his residency at the University of Toledo in 2016 and practiced in Ohio for the next five years. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urologic Association.
With extensive training on the da Vinci Robotic System, Dr. Suttle’s clinical interests include minimally-invasive treatment of urologic cancers, kidney stone disease, male and female incontinence and general urology.
In his free time, Dr. Suttle enjoys winter sports, hiking, attending concerts and seeking out new restaurants with his significant other, Kayla.
CHRISTOPHER TAM, MD
A California native, Dr. Tam attended UC San Diego on a Regents Scholarship, where he obtained his BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. He obtained his MD with research distinction from Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and completed his urology residency at the University of Michigan.
During his medical education and residency training, Dr. Tam published many peer-reviewed journal articles, received several awards including the St. Joseph Mercy Resident of the Year Award and was an active member of the American Urological Association. Beyond general urology, Dr. Tam’s clinical interests include kidney stone disease, minimally-invasive surgery and robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci Robotic System.
Dr. Tam joined Urology Nevada in 2022 and is eager to serve his community with the highest level of care. Outside of his medical practice, he enjoys cross country running, playing ultimate frisbee and pickleball, dancing, studying chess and spending time with his family and friends.
DIMITAR ZLATEV, MD
Dr. Dimitar V. Zlatev is a Stanford and Harvard trained board-certified urologic surgeon and surgical oncologist. His clinical practice is focused on the surgical treatment of urologic cancers, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, penile cancer, and testicular cancer. He is a high-volume surgeon who uses all available surgical techniques including robotic, laparoscopic, open, and endoscopic surgery. His approach to patient care emphasizes compassion, direct and clear communication, and multidisciplinary care, recognizing the profound impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on a patient and their family and working together to treat it with an aim to cure.
After receiving his medical degree from Northwestern, Dr. Zlatev completed urologic residency at Stanford. He then completed a 2-year fellowship in urologic oncology at Harvard, training at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. During fellowship, he was awarded the ‘Best Clinical Research’ award at the annual Harvard Research Conference. After fellowship, he stayed on as faculty in urologic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital for 4 years before moving to the Reno/Tahoe area in 2023 to join Urology Nevada and take care of both urologic cancer and general urology patients. Within 6 months of practice in Reno, he was recognized as Northern Nevada’s Physician of the Quarter in April 2024.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Zlatev enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, skiing, tennis, traveling, and exploring the outdoors in the Sierra Nevadas.
